Sekukkulu In Uganda
Christmas in Uganda, is also known as Sekukkulu.  Sekukkulu is the birth of Jesus Christ, and starts on the 24th of December each year. This is also known as Christmas Eve.  On Christmas Eve, everyone attends church, even if they don't normally go on a regular basis.  People sing Christmas carols, and light candles around the well decorated church.  After the service, the holiday cooking starts!  Christmas in Uganda isn't about giving presents as it is in the United States, it's about sharing, love, caring, and new clothes.  On Sekukkulu, people dance and sing and have a good time.  It is closed on December 26th.
